Rave Radar Au ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to being transparent about how your information is collected, stored, and used. This policy covers all features of the platform including the public calendar, user accounts, saved events, and the promoter portal.
Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you create a user account, we collect your email address, chosen username, and a securely hashed version of your password. Your email is used to identify your account and is stored in our database for as long as your account exists.
- Saved Events: If you are signed in, your saved/favourited events are stored in our database and linked to your account so they sync across devices. If you are not signed in, saved events are stored locally on your device only.
- Push Notification Subscriptions: If you choose to enable event reminders, we store a browser push subscription token in our database. This token is used solely to deliver notifications about your saved events. It contains no personally identifiable information beyond what your browser generates.
- Session Data: When you are signed in, we store a session cookie on your device to keep you logged in. Session records are stored server-side in our database and expire after 30 days of inactivity.
- Event Submissions (Promoter Portal): Promoters who submit events through the portal provide event details (name, city, location, date, lineup, etc.) which are stored in our database for review and potential listing on the calendar.
- City & Location Data: We use a third-party service (ipapi.co) to detect your general city or region from your IP address to personalise the default calendar view. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
- To sync your saved events across devices when you are signed in.
- To send you browser push notifications for upcoming saved events, if you have opted in.
- To maintain your login session across visits.
- To display events submitted through the promoter portal on our calendar.
- To provide a localised calendar experience based on your approximate location.
Data Storage and Security
Account data (email, username, hashed password), saved events, push subscriptions, and session records are stored in a secure PostgreSQL database. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using bcrypt before being saved. We do not sell, share, or trade your personal information with third parties.
Cookies and Local Storage
- Session Cookie: Set when you sign in. Used to maintain your login state. Expires after 30 days.
- LocalStorage: Used to store saved events for signed-out users, your dark mode preference, and your selected state/city. Not used for tracking.
- Third-Party Cookies: Embedded Google Calendar content may set cookies governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Push Notifications
If you enable event reminders, your browser generates a unique push subscription token which we store to deliver notifications about your saved events (3 days, 2 days, 24 hours before, and on the day of an event). You can disable notifications at any time from your dashboard, which removes your subscription from our servers immediately.
Account Deletion and Data Removal
If you wish to have your account and associated data (email, saved events, push subscription) removed, please contact us. We will delete your data promptly upon request.
Third-Party Services
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of Rave Radar Au after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
